Nautical Swap Meet planned for April 30
Old fenders taking up space in the garage? How about that spare VHF radio that you never seem to get around to installing? And what about that 200 feet of nylon rope that was meant to be your spare anchor rode, except your new boat already has
2 spares? Not to worry! The Nautical Swap meet is right around the corner, and is guaranteed to help you with these and other pressing problems. Mark Leese is again organizing this popular annual event. 10am to 2pm on Saturday, April 30, at Winslow Wharf.
The club will provide tables to display your wares, and there's no charge. We'll have snacks and beverages again this year, and the event is open to the public. So come prepared to buy and sell and have a good time! For more details and information,

Bremerton 1st on cruise schedule May 20-22
NOW HEAR THIS... The fleet is in! Or at least it will be on May 20-22 when EHYC arrives for the 1st cruise of our 2011 season. Cruise co-leaders Donna and John DeMeyer and Dale and Tina Ingalls are busy making preparations, and we're told that 12 boats have registered
already. There's lots to see and do along the revitalized Bremerton waterfront, and we'll have a great BBQ on the dock Saturday evening, with music and dancing after. Some boats will arrive on Friday, others on Saturday. And if you can't bring the boat this time, plan to come by land and join us for
the festivities on Saturday evening. Comfortable hotel accomodations are adjacent to the marina, so even if you drive you can still spend the weekend. So don't be AWOL -- sign up today!! Be sure to see the very cool flyer for details and registration information.
Club house off to good start
Those who attended the EHYC Open House on March 18 will have noticed our new sign posted next to the entrance. Joe Dunstan, our Rear Commodore, was responsible for construction and installation. Thanks Joe! Roughly 40 members
and guests turned out for the Open House, and it appeared most had a very good time (if they didn't, they were faking it pretty well!) And thanks also to the EHYC Bridge and Directors for supplying the appetizers - very tasty indeed. The next
event at the Club House is our regular 3rd-Friday get-together on April 15. Bring a beverage and an appetizer to share, and plan to have fun with members and friends from EHYC and BIYC. Starts at 6:00pm and runs until around 9:00. Hope to
see you there!
Welcome new EHYC members!
Please welcome the following new EHYC members:
- Ken Fabert: 35ft Hallberg Rassey - Dovekie
- Ken Perry, Sarah Taylor: 43ft Taswell - Blue Boat
- Harry Pattison, Joy Archer: 44" Mason Cutter - Oh Joy II
We're glad you joined, and hope to see you at one of our up-coming events. Welcome aboard!
Ladies Luncheon
Ladies, watch your email this week for announcements about the next EHYC Ladies Luncheon, to be held at Barb McKenzie's on May 7. Here's the
short version: 12:30pm, 132 Wood Ave SW, Bainbridge Island. Bring a salad to share; Barb is providing the rest. Last year's luncheon at Barb's was a great success,
so you won't want to miss this one. You can reach Barb at 842-4272 if you need more info. We'll send an RSVP request out shortly.
New members: Building for the future
View from the bridge
In this issue of the newsletter we've listed new EHYC members who have joined since October, when we last acknowledged new members with a small reception at the club house. I'd like to personally add my
welcome to all members who have joined in the last year or so, and encourage you to actively participate in the club. Your Bridge is working hard to develop cruises, social events, and other activities that will appeal to
a wide cross section of the membership. Folks join EHYC for many reasons. Some are interested primarily in our cruises; others are interested more in our social activities. Still others simply value being a part of an organization of like-minded folks who enjoy
boats and boating. Whatever your reasons for joining, we're glad that you did!
Speaking of members and membership, I thought you might be interested to know we added 10 new members (families) during calendar 2010, and lost 9 members, for a net gain of 1. It is reassuring that the club
is holding its own through difficult times, but a bit more growth would be nice. While our goal, of course, is not simply to add members, it is important to recognize that new members are the future of EHYC. I know that might sound a bit trite, until you note that most of the present EHYC Bridge and Directors
joined in the last 5 years. New members bring ideas, energy, and enthusiasm, and help to keep us moving forward. So next time you see a new face on the dock, take a moment to introduce yourself, and mention that you belong to
EHYC. If you think they might enjoy the club, encourage them to visit our web site and to drop in at a 3rd Friday get-together at the club house. It's important that we keep the club growing, and we're actively seeking new members who share
our passion for "boating the Bainbridge way". -- Rick Randall, Commodore.
Hats! Hats! Hats!
Don't forget to order your stylish new EHYC hat or visor in time for the cruising and social season. Hats are $20 each and available in denim blue, light blue, and pink.
Visors are $15 and only available in pink. These are from a new supplier this year, and are nicer than the ones we offered a couple years ago. Contact Secretary Sandra
Leese to order yours. Actually, you might want one for your crew as well! Sandra says she can ship your cap to you for an additional $4.00, or you can arrange with her to
pick one up at most of our events.
Small Stuff...
Not too taxing: 3rd Friday get-together... Our next regularly scheduled 3rd Friday get-together is on April 15. Forget about those taxes; come out to the club house and enjoy a pleasant evening with other folks from EHYC and BIYC.
Bring a beverage and an appetizer to share. Info? Contact Rick Randall or Cindy Robinson.
Fisheries Supply discount... Don't forget that membership in EHYC qualifies you for a discount at Fisheries Supply in Seattle. Just refer to Account No. 611963 and Eagle Harbor Yacht Club when you check out or order by phone. If you have questions,
please contact EHYC Secretary Sandra Leese.
EHYC events calendar... Don't miss your favorite event this year! The EHYC Events Calendar for 2011 is filling up fast. Be sure to check out the EHYC online calendar.
Or you can view a list of event dates here.
Opps, we missed March...Well, time sort of got away from us during the last few weeks, and we managed to miss our deadline for a March issue of EHYC News. So we have an
early April issue instead. Just didn't want you to think you missed anthing big!
