All the boats arrived on Friday afternoon despite the fog experienced on route, with the final pair of 43ft C&C sloops arriving last, after doing a graceful limbo under the 11th Street Bridge, cheered on by a large group of local sailors.
A very pleasant evening was spent eating and drinking on the dock alongside the host boat, Double Haven; - introductions were made as there were several first time cruisers. Several of our group later gate-crashed the Kiwanis’ party being held on the Glass Museum’s patio adjacent to the Marina. The music was great, and of course we arranged it especially for the EHYC!
Saturday dawned cool and cloudy and everyone had the morning to explore the many attractions now available in this area of Tacoma. In the afternoon most members took advantage of the glassblowing experience at the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio and very much enjoyed this unique opportunity. Finally after a rain shower or two, that caught some off guard, we enjoyed a most amazing dinner at the Indochine Restaurant.
Let's face it-- there are some crazy, happy people in EHYC!
The food at Indochine Restaurant was reportedly superb and enjoyed by all!
Sunday newspapers were delivered on board, courtesy of the marina, and most of the group had breakfast at the Harmon Brewery & Restaurant. The glass pieces were delivered to the marina and we had great fun admiring all the masterpieces. Who would have thought that there were so many talented sailors!

Barb & Liz are amazed
Thereafter most boats departed for home in bright sunny weather with very happy memories of the cruise thanks to the very friendly Dock Street Marina staff, and all those that looked after us so well at the glassblowing experience and restaurants.

Tacoma seems to be making a really big effort to welcome yacht clubs and we, as Cruise Captains, would recommend another cruise there in the near future.
PS. Just bring ear plugs!
Respectfully submitted, Mark & Sandy Leese, Cruise Captains
