EHYC sponsors multiple cruises typically from May through September, and we are active participants in the City of Bainbridge Island lighted boat parade in December. In the other months we have indoor events on the 3rd Friday of each month, with informative and educational presentations. Our Annual Meeting is held each January and there are one or two club picnics on Bainbridge Island during the summer. In addition, each year we hold a Fire Extinguisher and Flare Safety Event as described below. Members can log in to see the complete, up-to-date calendar.

2024 Cruises

The cruise schedule for 2024 is below (click the "read more" link). Normally, a description of each cruise appears in the club newsletter a month or two in advance. Cruises include group events such as a breakfast, happy hours, or dinner. Sometimes, there are excursions and low-key games. All are great fun.

An email with a signup link is usually sent to all members four to six weeks before the cruise starts. The cost of a cruise varies (the club's objective is to break even) and is typically between $20 and $35 per person. Fees for moorage are paid directly to the marina by individual participants. In some cases, the club makes the marina reservations; in others, they have to be made by participants.

2024 Schedule

Shakedown Cruise: 5/17-19. Des Moines. New destination for EHYC. Great fuel dock. Good facilities and close to downtown. They're used to yacht club rendezvous. This is the weekend after Mother's Day.

June Cruise: Return of the Crab/Salmon Feed! We'll elaborate on this theme in the Spring. 6/21-23. The destination is Port Ludlow. Port Ludlow is more protected from the wind than Port Townsend, our prior Crab Feed destination.

July Cruise: 7/12-14. New destination for EHYC: Everett. The waterfront has changed in recent years. There's more to do. There's good public transportation to downtown. It's a great starting point for those continuing northward. This is the largest marina in Washington state.

August extended cruise: We're looking at a longer window for the rendezvous. We don't expect everyone to make every destination. 8/7-8/17.

8/7-8/9: Sidney - after the local holiday. Gives cruisers a change to enter Canada on their own time schedule. The window includes the Thursday market.
8/9-8/10: Genoa Bay. This has been a very popular destination with a great restaurant on site.
8/10-8/11: Mill Bay. Just a short cruise from Genoa Bay. Also popular with EHYC. Another great restaurant. And really good shopping within walking distance for reprovisioning.
8/11-13: Brentwood Bay. New destination for EHYC. There are two marinas in the main section of Brentwood Bay we can look at for the rendezvous. Tod Inlet is a 10 minute dinghy trip for those who choose to anchor out. Butchart Cove and the dinghy dock entrance to Butchart Gardens is a 5-10 minute dinghy ride away. There is also public transportation to Victoria and Sidney.
8/13-15: Ganges Harbour - ideally Salt Spring Marina at the head of the bay. Popular destination for the club. The window includes the farmers market.
8/15-17: Roche Harbor. Another popular EHYC destination we haven't been to for a couple of years.
September Bitter End Cruise: 9/13-15: Kingston. EHYC likes Kingston. Ray at Port of Kingston loves EHYC.

Third Fridays

The club's Third Friday gatherings are off-season getting-to-know-you, knowledge-sharing, fun-filled events lasting two or three hours in the early evening. These informal, catered BYOB dinners usually take place in October, November, February, March, and April in comfortable rented facilities. There are often some speakers on boating topics - either people we bring in to talk about, for example, boating safety or members who share their experience in a Pacific Northwest cruising area. Two recent Third Fridays covered cruising in the Inside Passage and cold water survival tips (the first tip covering how to avoid getting into the water in the first place).
