We eighteen,

 aboard nine boats,

 made our separate ways

south on a damp Friday

 to gather in the shelter

of this fine harbor for

the 4-6 May weekend.

While not warm,

the balance of the

weekend was dry and

the winds were light.

I have never been in an eight boat raft before!  Pictured are Liten Bat, Double Haven, Sea Venture, Sea Major, Northern Light, Waypoint II, Aeolia and Windshadow (Sea Horse was dockside).  Sea Venture and Waypoint II deployed their massive anchors and held us fast.

We came to enjoy the company of good friends and sup together.  Here are tasty Friday appetizers aboard Sea Venture.

Another view – it was a long trek across the rails and some wisely chose to dinghy from stern to distant stern.

Liten Bat broke away for the Saturday one-day-only South Sound shrimp season.  Our reward for our efforts was exactly TWO spot shrimp named, upon return to the raft, George and Gracie.  This is Gracie.  George, before he lost his head, was much larger – honest!  We were hardly consoled by the fact that few boats did much better.  At least were able to provide great amusement for the remainder of our party.

The sun did come out on Saturday and we happily made room in the raft for our late-arriving Commodore.

Saturday pre-dinner gathering aboard Double Haven

And here we are, out of the dinghies, storming the beach at Quartermaster Yacht Club on our way to dinner at the finest restaurant in Burton.  OK, the Back Bay Inn is the only restaurant but it was quite good!

Sunday morning coffee aboard Way Point II.  Then back to the Back Bay Inn for brunch.  I don’t think anyone lost weight.  Many found time to exert by hiking on shore or exploring via dinghies.

Sea Venture extracted from the middle of the pack, preparing to hoist dinghy aboard and depart.  Bon Voyage!
