Port Orchard Cruise
From Our Commodore....
Here is wishing all of
you the very best for 2009. I
trust the year will bring you much safe and pleasant boating.
Before outlining some plans and activities for this New Year, let me
thank our past Commodore Mark Leese and the entire 2008 team for a
fun-filled year.
It will take all of us to make
this a great year for the Eagle Harbor Yacht Club.
I truly feel the role of the Commodore is only as effective
as the participation of the membership.
There are over nine events for this year, ranging from a
delicious crab feed in Port Townsend, raft-ups at secluded
anchorages, and strolls through nearby quaint little towns, to the
Lighted Boat Parade and Commodore’s Ball during the holidays.
All will provide plenty of fun and camaraderie.
This is a chance for all of us to break away from our daily
routines, join in on the activities, and make new friends, or
reacquaint some long lost relationships.
Puget Sound and the
Pacific Northwest are some of the
most beautiful cruising grounds in the country.
In this current state of our economy, we all can find a lot
of local places to go with very little travel time.
We will also look for ways for our club to enjoy this great
pastime with some frugal cruises and activities.
On the slate of activities for this year, I intend to implement some
technology improvements so we can better communicate to the members,
and provide a venue for all of us to share our boating experiences
and expertise, and this website will be a place for you to go for
up-to-date yacht club and boating-related information.
If you are a new to boating, feel free to ask any of us to give you
a hand. Just remember,
we all went through the same learning curve when we started boating.
If you are an old salt and have been around boats for years
and years, lend a hand to the new and the young.
I am sure many of them would appreciate some helpful guidance
and may be just a bit shy to ask for help.
If you are not yet a member of our yacht club, and would like to dip
your toes to test the water, drop us a note, and we would be happy
to have you join us.
If you are planning a cruise to Bainbridge Island, and need some
info on local waters, or are seeking anchorages or transient
moorage, let us know, and we will get you the info you need.
From our entire team of officers, we wish all of you a fun cruising
season and look forward to having you join us at many of the
rendezvous and events.
See you on the water, and stay safe!
